Shopping in Paris

Paris is one of the most quoted cities for shopping, especially for those looking for luxury and fashion for the great designers. Let's take a look at the stores, shopping streets and where to buy each product.

Department store

Galleries Lafayette (Boulevard Haussmann 40): Declared a historical monument thanks to its spectacular neobizantine cupola, the Galleries Lafayette of Paris is one of the most visited department stores in the world. It is worth going even if you do not want to buy.
Printemps (Boulevard Haussmann 64): Located next to the former, Printemps department stores offer the most luxurious fashion brands in the world. It is difficult to find items below 300 €.
Bazaar of Hotel de Ville, BHV: (Rue du Temple 14): Despite being famous and central, we could define the BVH as an "English Court". It does not offer the luxury of the previous ones.

Luxury shopping streets

If you are looking for commercial streets with more affordable prices, touring the Latin Quarter may be a good idea. Boulevard Saint-Germain, Boulevard Saint-Michelle and its surrounding streets are a good starting point.

Champs Elysees: The most famous boulevard in Paris is one of the most important shopping streets. This is where the flagship store of Louis Vuitton is located, where hundreds of customers and thousands of curious people are approaching each day, so there is probably queue to enter. The vast majority of clients are wealthy Asians.
Avenue Montaigne: This small street gathers the most luxurious and expensive shops in Paris. It is advisable to visit it if only to see the strange designs that populate their windows.
Rue Royale: This street communicates the Place de la Concorde with the Madeleine. In the middle of the street the Rue Saint-Honoré crosses perpendicularly. In Saint-Honoré you will find shops like Hermès, Prada or Yves Saint Laurent. Continuing to the east by Saint-Honoré you will arrive at the Place Vendome.

Markets

Île de la Cité Market: Located on Place Louis Lépine and open all year round, this market is one of the most famous in Paris. Weekends sell flowers and Sundays are complemented by birds.
Flea Market: The "Marché aux Puces de Saint Ouen" is a large market where you can find everything from clothing to antiques. The most important days are Saturdays and Sundays. The best way to get there is by metro, stop Porte de Clignancourt.

Gift shops

The best shops to buy souvenirs at a good price are in Montmartre, both in the high part next to the Place du Tertre and in the lower part in the Rue de Steinkerque, street that takes of the metro Anvers until the funicular.

Pictures and other decorative objects

As with gifts, Montmartre is the best place to buy local art. In the Place du Tertre you will find artists exhibiting their works, while in the nearby streets you will see shops and art galleries.

If you want posters or old prints, on the bank of the Seine next to the Latin Quarter you will find dozens of stalls with these objects.

Food Products

Although during the trip you can take advantage to try the exquisite Parisian bread and sweet, if you want to buy something to take home, the options are reduced to wines, cheeses and foie gras. You will not have problems finding supermarkets or gourmet stores (in the Galleries Lafayette itself).
